Public Notice: Annual Tree Removal Program

The City of Jerseyville Street and Public Property Departments, in combination with a private contractor, is scheduled to complete our tree removal program in November and December, weather-permitting.

The following streets include trees within City/IDOT right-of-ways that are scheduled for the 2020 program: North State, IL Hwy 109, South Washington, Barr, Giddings, Snedeker, South Lafayette, Cross, Circle, Maple, Clay, Sarah, Cleveland, Sumner, June, Franklin, and Hartcourt.

No parking will be allowed on the affected streets from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, and residents in these areas will experience short-term street closures, traffic/biking/walking delays, blocked driveways, and potential garbage collection delays. Access will be provided in the event of emergencies only.

The contractor will be cutting down trees, trimming limbs, and grinding stumps. There will be short-term noise and debris/wood chips on the streets and adjacent right-of-way areas, which the contractor will clean-up on an as-needed basis.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we complete these important improvements in your neighborhood, to eliminate dangerous dead limbs from falling, to improve sight distances for the traveling public, to minimize heaving of adjacent sidewalks, and to minimize the tree debris that ends up in our stormwater system.
