NOTICE
IN ACCORDANCE WITH ORDINANCE #1777 PASSED MARCH 8, 2022, THE CITY OF JERSEYVILLE AMENDED TITLE 5, CHAPTER 5, SECTIONS 5-5-3 AND 5-5-6 REGARDING WEEDS AND VEGETATION, AND TITLE 12, CHAPTER 1, SECTION 12-1-11 REGARDING VEGETATION ON VACANT LOTS. PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE HAS ALLOWED FOR CHANGES TO THE PROCESS OF POSTING PROPERTIES IN VIOLATION OF GRASS AND/OR WEEDS THAT ARE OVER 8 INCHES TALL AND ALSO CLARIFIES VEGETATION GROWN ON VACANT LOTS.
THE CITY WILL ONLY POST A NOTICE OF VIOLATION ONE TIME PER YEAR REMINDING OWNERS TO MOW THEIR PROPERTIES THAT ARE OF 8 INCHES TALL OF GRASS AND/OR WEEDS BEFORE VIOLATIONS ARE ABATED AND FEES ASSESSED.
REGARDING VEGETATION ON VACANT LOTS, ONLY HAY THAT IS ALFALFA OR SWEET CLOVER CAN BE GROWN WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS AND ONLY ON LOTS GREATER THAN 1 ACRE AND MUST BE BALED AT LEAST 3 TIMES PER YEAR.
